OUR MILESTONE

What is Mzenga Lives Foundation?

Mzenga Lives Foundation (MLF) is a Zambian non-profit organization established with a clear mission to empower Zambian citizens, particularly the younger generation, through education, advocacy, and community engagement focusing on mindset change. Our name, "Mzenga Lives Foundation", reflects the core purpose of our work — Mzenga, meaning "to build" or "to construct" in local languages, symbolizes our commitment to building not just stronger communities, but stronger individuals with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to contribute meaningfully to society. Through our various programs, we strive to foster growth, shift mindsets, and create a resilient and self-reliant Zambia.

Our First-Year Milestones: A Journey of Empowerment and Impact

As we reflect on our journey over the past year, Mzenga Lives Foundation has proudly achieved significant milestones in line with our mission.

Here are some key highlights of our success:

1. Launch of Football Academies

MLF has established football academies in Lundazi, Mambwe and Mkushi districts, recognizing the importance of youth engagement. This initiative provides a safe platform for young boys and girls to stay active, develop life skills, and avoid negative influences. Through sports, we aim to instill discipline, teamwork, and a sense of community, while also using the academy as a venue to educate youth on various social and personal issues.

2. Orphanage Support

Mzenga Lives Foundation is proud of the significant milestones achieved. From the outset, we prioritized community empowerment through donations. Our visits to House of Joy Orphanage, Maranatha Orphanage, and Mama Waluse Orphanage provided school bags, books, clothes, and food supplies, delivering much needed support to vulnerable children. Furthermore, we have continued to support the 4 orphanages mentioned with essential needs.

3. Financial Literacy

As part of our mission to educate and uplift communities, MLF launched a series of financial literacy and advocacy workshops. These programs focused on teaching rural communities and young people about money management, savings, and sustainable living. Our participation in events such as the Kabwe district, Mkushi district, Eastern Province Financial Literacy Tour and the Headmen/Women Conference in Msoro Chiefdom highlighted our commitment to addressing critical issues like early childhood marriages and alcohol abuse, while also raising awareness about financial literacy and responsible living.

4. Climate Change

A key focus of Mzenga Lives Foundation has been driving a mindset shift within the communities we serve. Through education, advocacy and action oriented approach, we emphasize environmental consciousness, teaching communities about the importance of protecting natural resources and promoting sustainable practices to ensure a greener future for Zambia. We have planted over 1000+ trees across Zambia to combat the effects of climate change.

4. Donations

Over the past year, Mzenga Lives Foundation has proudly extended its support to different communities through the donation of assorted items to improve lives and create opportunities. We have provided wheelchairs to individuals with disabilities, enhancing their mobility and independence. In addition, we donated sewing machines to support small-scale businesses and empower women in various regions. Our commitment to youth empowerment was also highlighted by distributing football kits, including jerseys, soccer balls, and gloves, to local teams. These initiatives aim to foster self-reliance and community development, aligning with our core mission to bring lasting change to underserved communities.
